Green Jewelry: Recycled/Upcycled

Please join us Saturday, July 9th, 6-9:00 PM for the opening of "Green Jewelry: Recycled/Upcycled" showcasing the work of 12 contemporary jewelry artists who have found fun and innovative ways to make use of recycled materials in their wearable art.

Our juror, Jan Harrell, noted jewelry artist, enamelist and instructor at Glassell School of Art, describes her work in shaping the show:

"As an artist who repurposes materials to inform her own art work, it was a real pleasure to view and review the submissions for the Green Jewelry show. I looked for work that met the criteria set forth in the prospectus, work that included uncommon materials for a green category, and work that was well designed and well crafted. I found all of these.

The final grouping includes pieces that are light and whimsical mixed in with narrative work. The most successful pieces used a very edited palate of colors and materials to achieve a balanced, effective design. When the entries warranted it, I tried to show a body of work from the selected artists."
