Bruce Dehnert & Jim Shea

Please join us Saturday, September 10th, 6-9:00 PM for the opening of Preview next show our first show for the Fall season: "Old Friends - New Work: Bruce Dehnert & Jim Shea" showcasing the work of two outstanding clay artists from the East Coast.

Jim Shea, formerly from Houston, now works in the Fort Point District of Boston MA, creating strong functional work with an Asian esthetic. Jim explains the story behind the show title: “When 18 Hands asked me to invite another potter to show with me, my mind immediately jumped to Bruce Dehnert.  Bruce and I met years ago at Peter's Valley Craft Center, where he's the head of the Ceramics Department.  He's a talented potter and sculptor whose work is in collections all over the world, including the White House collection.  I'm excited to be sharing this show with him.”



Bruce DehnertBruce Dehnert, hailing from Layton, New Jersey is a nationally and internationally known ceramicist and educator. He teaching assignments span from New York’s Hunter College and Parsons School of Art to the New Zealand School of Art, the Universiti Malaysia Sarawak and the University of Massachusetts Dartmouth. He is also the recipient of many prizes and awards including the Fletcher Challenge International Ceramics Award, the Settlor Prize in Sculpture and a Carnegie Premier Award for Works on Paper.
