Nancy Susaneck

Being born in New York City, New York afforded me many opportunities to soak in different forms of art at an early age. Painting was the medium in which I seemed to excel. So, in 1970, it was obvious that I would spend a year in Paris, studying and taking in the museums of Europe.

When I started a pottery class in 2000, I had never worked in clay and thought it could be a time away from all my responsibilities, something just for me. But a new love affair started; I found that clay gave me the ability to combine all of my favorite things. I began working in clay full time in 2005.

My work has a very contemporary feel, mixing sharp clean lines and organic forms. Hand-building is my preferred method. This gives me a chance to incorporate beads, fiber and found objects with my clay pieces, trying to find a balance with each element.

I have found that I am on an ever-changing journey with clay. Each stop is a delight and brings on new challenges and ideas. I hope that you enjoy the journey with me.
